Form Energy develops and commercializes a low-cost battery system that can store wind and solar energy for a long duration. It aims to make batteries that can dispatch energy for days, expanding the ability to supply wind and solar power to the grid. The company's technology transforms the electric grid by making renewable energy dispatchable year-round, as well as extending transmission capacity without building new wires, and replacing the need for conventional thermal generation. Its core technology was invented at MIT and is supported by investors which include Breakthrough Energy Ventures, MIT’s The Engine, Macquarie Capital, Eni Next, Capricorn Investment Group, and Prelude Ventures.
