Blue Origin
Blue Origin is Jeff Bezos's privately held space company, founded in 2000 to lower the cost of access to space. It operates the suborbital New Shepard tourism/research vehicle and the heavy-lift, partially reusable New Glenn orbital rocket (first orbital flight Jan 2025; first booster reuse Apr 2026), builds the BE-4 and BE-3 engines (BE-4 also powers ULA's Vulcan), and is developing the Blue Moon lunar landers (NASA selected its MK2 lander for Artemis V) and the Orbital Reef commercial space station. Led by CEO Dave Limp since Dec 2023. Funded almost entirely by Bezos until July 2026, when it was reported to be raising its first external round — ~$10B led by Coatue at a ~$130B valuation.
